Looking for a Leica M mount lens

Buying a Leica M series quite soon. Will be either an M3, M2, M4-2, or M4-P. Regardless of which one I buy, it's been my experience that they work much better with a lens attached.

Thinking about a 50/2 Summicron, or a 35/2.8 (is it Elmarit?).

If anyone has extras in these focal lengths in black, I'd appreciate a post.

Just remember that a 35 with an M3 is going to require either an external VF or a lens with "goggles."

The 35mm/2.8 is a Summaron. It is available for the M3, with "Eyes".

The M3 with the Summicron or Summarit is good looking. The M3 with Summaron and "Eyes" works.

Thanks. Odds are, it'll be an M4-2 or M4-P, my budget being what it is.

Didn't they make 35 Summicrons with "eyes"? There is a local camera shop that has a mint 35/2 Summicron, with eyes for $899.

Joe. Hadn't thought of that. I'll actively think about it. But still, if I'm going to buy a bayonet mount camera, why not get bayonet lenses? Actually, with 8 M42 Takumars, I'm screwed enough as it is.

Kyle, thanks, but no "eyes" for me. Most of what I've read about them leads me to conclude that they dim the view, which is the last thing I need. But thanks for the suggestion.

Couldn't resist Chris Platt's Bessa R deal in 35mm classifieds, so it's LTM now.
