The rectangular Leitz 12524 (designed for the 35/2, I believe) works perfectly on my Canon 50/1.5.

"A 40->43mm step-up adapter with a generic, fenestred hood is a nice solution, too, and probably the cheapest solution."
That's exactly what I did. I found a 40-43 step-up ring, and then got a generic hood from, I think, Heavystar. Works perfectly. I use it w/ both the Canon 50/1.5 and the Canon 50/1.8:

The hood for the Canon 50/1.8 works perfectly, and is much easier to find than the one for the 50/1.5. They're almost exactly the same, except the 50/1.8 hood takes Series VI filters. It came in either chrome or black.

does anyone have a problem with the RF coupling when used on the M camera? I cant focus to infinity... there's still a little bit for the patch to go in order for it to line up..
