a coworker approached me a few days ago and told me about a photographer he heard about on CBC satellite radio.. the story, from what he remembered, was that a woman won a camera in a contest or lottery, and tho she had no prior photography experience, started to carry it around and take random photos (not unlike any of us)

as it so happens, she had a very unusual relationship with her father, who was homeless, and chose to remain that way.. the woman would meet with her dad on regular intervals.. usually in a coffee shop or some such public place.. after a bit, she started to take photos of him as they sat and talked.. this progressed to following him around and taking photos of him doing the typical things a homeless person would do during his daily 'routine'

eventually she collected the photos and published them, ultimately sharing them with her father

my coworker was very moved by the story.. unfortunately, not enough to remember the name of the woman.. is this familiar to anyone else? I'd like to read more about it.. and possibly see the book, if possible
