Hi all,

I've been trying to find a nice RF for my girl friend that is within a budget of around $100. I'd like to get her something as classic looking as a Konica II/III, but I would also like it to be easy to use and preferably have a meter so that she can have it in an automatic mode for almost everything but still have the option to go manual for when I want to use it.

I'm all eyes with the suggestions you guys my give. 🙂 TY.

I think you can get an Olympus 35RC for that, I like mine. Has a somewhat annoying 'safety feature' that locks the shutter release if the shutter speed is set too low or high for the metered exposure. It's a shutter speed priority camera. Make sure it comes with a lens cap, threads are 43.5 mm.

If she'd prefer something on the smaller side, I'd look at the Olympus 35RC. Nice classic feel, easy to carry in a small bag, automatic and manual. Slightly larger, the Canonet 17 GIII probably takes it for me on availablity, price and handling. I'd big is better, I'd look at the Konica Auto S2.

After using a bunch of these cameras, I have to say that it is hard to go wrong as long as the camera is in good working condition.

There are lots of great options out there.

I've got a Canonet G-III QL-17 that I can give you. I still have a couple things to fix up but they won't take too long.

give me a PM with your address if you want it...

cheers,
Eugene

Olympus XA would be my suggestion. Simple and good glass.

Edit: ok, XA if she doesn't like a Canonet. 😀

Yashica Electro 35

It may be bigger that other rangefinders, but it is built like a tank. It has a fast (f/1.7) lens and it has aperture priority mode.

TY Wes. The Yashicas were another one I was considering, but I wanted to keep my options open as much as possible which is why I started this thread. 🙂
