FYI:

Just found out that Tony Rose at popflash.com has several chrome M8's in stock. All of them new from the upgraded batch.
 
Do these new cameras have the banding issue? If the answer is "NO" I'm jumping in my car this morning and putting my money where my big fat mouth is! God I can't wait! : )

Good for you! I hope it brings you much pleasure and look forward to seeing some photographs. Don't do the drop test though.;)

Ordered my $1395 RD-1 refurb yesterday, luckily they had it in black ;) Looking forward to an M9 that doesn't need IR filters. Maybe next Christmas :rolleyes:
 
If it's like the film Ms, they do them in batches. UI suspect the first batch was almost all black. The next one was silver, ect. Most folks want black. So now someone who is not on a waiting list can get a silver M8 right away. To me its six of one half dozen of another.

WOOF WOOF, ARF! Oh trust me I'll keep you posted- adnausium. I have a trade show in the first week of January in... drum roll please... I'll give you a hint.... some say the prevailing conditions are in the M8's "danger zone"... yes that's it... Las Vegas! I'll be snapping lots of pics on the strip after dark and being that I'm a dog like you- probably of a few strippers as well! Boy oh boy I can't wait!

Filters? We don't need no stinkin filters! (yes I have one but none for my Zeiss 21mm, my primary lens for this camera.)

Just curious Ted, did you get the Silver or Black chrome? I had asked about the status of things on Friday. I was hoping those of us who are on the list and have already paid would get a heads-up also, whether Silver or Black is up for grabs.
 
Hey buddy- mine is chrome. Tony Rose posted that he had only chrome versions for sale yesterday and I got the last one. Since during my research into the M8 it seems I drank from that "must have M8 now cool-aid" I took the plunge. Were you on Popflash's waiting list? I have found a vendor on Amazon who is selling Chrome M8's and they were in stock as of day before yesterday. Carpe deium! (That last part may be mis-spelled. My Latin dictionary is on the blink)

Yep, on the list. I like the Silver bodies, but I had one and Black chrome is best. Every single chrome body I've had, people drool over it (be it Leica, Contax or Kiev). I don't want that kind of attention when I'm taking pictures --at least this time. ;) Hardly anybody drools over my black M6. Ergo...
