Hello,

Is there any Adobe Lightroom Preset for Epson R-D1(s) look for M8/M9?

Background: We are planning on creating a photo album for our kids and we have been looking through some old pictures that were shot with R-D1(s) and some of the pictures we really, really like the "look" of them!!! Now we wish that we can process some of the current pictures that we shot with M8u and produce the similar look as R-D1(s)...

I did some internet search for such presets for lightroom but could not find any...

Does anyone know if such presets exist and if so, where I can find them?

Thank you.

Peter.

That's work you'll have to do I'm afraid but with some time and patience it's quite simple, just use the 'Compare View' to get an idea of what you need to do and where you are going and just experiment along the way.

Thanks popeye, but I was looking for 'an easy way out' :)

There must be someone out there who's already done this...

Oh well, maybe it is time for me to read up on how to create my own Lightroom Preset now :(

Colour rendition all of its own, nicely saturated, but still natural, skin tones especially good. I think it´s just that it gets the colour balance right, or at least better than most. Epson may not be a camera manufacturer (Cosina built the mechanics), but they know a thing or two about image processing. Also it has a creamy, yet sharp look (given you have good glass). It has been said (more than on one occasion) that it is one of the more film-like digital cameras out there.

This adds up to it being very good for portraits and rich colours. Every user sooner or later will find out what its about, its been commented here on several occasions. A while back John from the land of Oz posted a series of pictures taken with three different cameras, and not one of the R-D1 crowd missed when it came to picking out which the R-D1 was responsible for.

hehe
how about offering your M8 for an R-D1 1:1 trade, i am sure your "problem" will be solved real fast!

A couple things I'd try is: reduce the M8 file size down to 3.8MP (40% to allow for the RD1's lower resolution sensor + another 12% to allow for the smaller size/greater crop-factor of the sensor). If that isn't enough. Then apply a little blur ("negative sharpening") to emulate the result of the RD1's stronger AA filter and shorter base length rangefinder. Other than that I can't think of anything, because aside from the above I can't see much difference in all the shots I have from my former RD1 compared to ones from my M8.
