Apple iTunes App Store has some tutorials (LR4 and PSCS6) by Serge Ramelli. Only $5-6, I thought very helpful, esp. for the price. He even has free demo (excerpt) versions for download.

i have been watching videos and playing a bit on my own...i just might be able to figure this out...though pse seems so simple now after years of using it alone.

The guys from LuLa have some of the best tutorials about LR, though they are neither short nor simple. They are worth far more than the price of admission. If you're really interested in finding out what LR is capable of, you should check out their tutorials. Michael Reuchmann and Jeff Schewe actually get to help develop LR. You can't go wrong with them.

if shooting raw, LR is unbeatable imo. made recently switch from PS (after many years of using) and cannot not be more pleased. there aren't many things am missing, though PS stands aside in case its needed. thx for the links btw 🙂

I'm thinking about switching from Aperture to Lightroom due to Adobe's Camera Raw and better rendering of my Ricoh GXR DNG files. Been on the fence for a while now due to the fact that I'd have to learn a whole new interface.

So in preparation I bought Scott Kelby's latest book: Lightroom 4 for Digital Photographers.

I bought mine through Amazon for about $10 bucks less.

Using the Sync function
Step 1. Select a batch of images that you want to work on from the library module
Step 2 Go to the Development module. The first image in the batch that you selected in Step 1 will be displaced
Step 3 Apply the desired settings
Step 4 Click on the Sync Button. Then check all the boxes for all the setting that you want to have applied to the all the images in that batch.

Creating a Preset
1 Open an image in the Development module
2 Apply the settings you want Let say Noise reduction
3 Click on the + Next to Presets.
a Name your Preset (Lets Say Noise Reduction High)
b Select the desired boxs
c Click OK
4 You should now see the new preset under User Presets

Using a Preset
1. Select the image or images that you want to apply the preset.
2. Right click on one of the image>Development setting>User Presets>The preset you want to use.

You might look into an actual text, used. I found that with the depth of the application, an actually book was helpful. I think I read the book by Evening, FWIW.

Be careful with the Sync button. If the little toggle switch on it is turn, the sync will be global (your whole library)!
