Looking for some input on my crazy idea!

I always hate DSLRs each time I try to give them a chance... there is nothing worse than going out with a camera that isn't your thing. Of course it works, and you may even make great photos, but ultimately, you should be happy / comfortable with the tool you use. In the long run, I truly feel you'll make better photos with the camera you truly love. However, not everyone is the same.

Of course, but it has to be a balance between the two. You'll not be happy with the camera that you don't want to take out, but you'll also not be happy with a camera that does not produces the images you want. If I were choosing between two cameras, one which produces IQ i liked but was a little larger and one that had the perfect form factor/ergonomics for me but lacked in IQ, I'd choose the larger camera any day.

In the end, the camera will be replaced but the images wont.

Well, it depends on how how big of a difference in IQ we are talking about and how much I hated the ergonomics of a camera. I went from a M8 to a Nikon D700 back to the M8 at one point. However, outside of this one example, I tend to agree with you.

Thanks for the input everyone! As much as I get caught up in gear-lust especially with Fuji really becoming an incredible force recently in my eyes, I have yet to tap my camera in its full potential.

Ill be saving up for an X100s and eventually an Xpro-2/s whatever its called when its released and we will see then if I can make the switch.

For the time being an ND filter, Polarizer, Grip, and that Sigma 35mm that DXO is raving about are in my more current future. Might as well treat my D800 nicely and see how she treats me back.
