Hi, I am hoping to get some advice on how to fix a loose, wobbly shutter speed dial on my 35RC. The dial functions but, despite the silver screw being tightened as far as it would go, the black plastic wheel wobbles relative to the screw and the camera.

I wonder if it's just the wheel having worked itself out of maybe there is some kind of shim between it and the camera body that's missing?

Would love to fix it since the camera is otherwise in rock solid condition.

Would much appreciate any insights.

It's been a long time, but the dial comes off easily. There is a "Key" for getting it back on the right way. Do you have it keyed properly? I can't remember if there was something under the set screw or not.

Yep, it's keyed correctly. The metal "base" under the wheel is solid, does not move. The screw goes in tight, all the way in. No signs of wear that I can see on the inside of the plastic wheel. Weird.

Well, I tightened the screw even more (afraid to twist any further) and it's a bit better / more straight now. But I can now see clearly that there is play between the head of the silver screw and the top level circular cutout in the wheel.

Normally I wouldn't worry about a detail like this but don't want to loose the wheel altogether 🙂

Well, it seems then that it would be the flat metal "thingy" just under the trunk of the dial that is too high... But I would never, ever dare to pop the hood on a working camera 🙂
