We've a nice thread to explore our touchy-feely side, now onto the materialism 😀

What'd everyone get this happy holiday? I got a two new tripods, cash for film and a excellent condition GE PR-1 light meter (with the incident cap! 🙂 ) to replace the one my son "re-calibrated 🙄 .

Plus the Jupiter 9 CRF mount that was my present to myself.

Everyone else?

William

A few small gifts is all I got:

3 Russian lenses for my RF cameras (a gift to myself)
1 Canon Eos 300D (another gift to myself)
2 visa for my wife and daughter (gift from my government)

The lenses were cheap, the Eos an arm and a leg, the visa invaluable. 🙂

It was a good haul.
1) Two 10 inch photofloods with umbrellas and both daylight and tungsten bulbs;
2) Gift cards to the local electronics store to get an Epson C86 printer for dedicated BW printing;
3) A Holgaroid and 5 packs of film;
4) A Capital CdS exposure meter;
5) and I bought myself the Princelle Authentic Guide to Russian and Soviet Cameras

That's it for the photo-related stuff. The only other 'large' thing was a 5 disc CD player to replace the one that I curse at all the time because it randomly refuses to function. My wife finally got tired of my tirades against it and got me another one.

Hope everyone had a great holiday.

It has been a good Christmas. My wife gave me a Gossen Digisix meter; very small and quite nice.

My youngest son gave me a SunPak 7500 tripod with two QD heads.

I gave myself a Zeiss-Ikon Ikoflex Model II/III TLR that's in excellent condition.

All-in-all, a very nice Christmas indeed. I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

I blew all my mad money on leica mp and 50f2 hexanon. Still waiting on lens so I can try my toy.

I bet the two Visas were the best of the bunch. I hope you can put them to good use soon.

Socks, Boxers, T-Shirts, Sweaters, Speakers for my truck. It was a great Christmas!

Todd

P.S.
Oh yeah, my wife and kids got me a Leica M3 (is that a good camera or something?) 😉.

Merry Christmas All!

Clothes, a 5 pk. of Konica Super VX200 film, a mechanic's creeper and on Tues. I'm picking up the 7 cameras and 5 lenses I have sitting at my US mailing address. Not technically Christmas gifts, but hey, more goodies for me.

My wife gave me a Leica MP and a 50mm Elmar. Unbelievable.

You should, in a timely fashion, do something exceptional for that very thoughtful woman.

I have a large multipart family so several years ago we all decided no gifts for the adults--too many of us and too stressful. Stil my Dad and Stepmom break that rule every time. This year a propack of Kodak 400 NC 120 film(good timing cause I want to try to get some shots of the fireworks the Downtown Business Assoc. shoots off at midnight on New Year's eve) and a book by Joyce Tenneson"Intimacy" Pictures of flowers. Great stuff.

I got the book "Women in Medicine" shot by Ted Grant and and Sandy Carter with Leica M cameras & lenses. I am engaged in a documentary project and this book is a classic example of the genre.

Ted Grant is an unsung hero IMO.

Gifts to myself:

- Industar-50 50mm/3.5 collapsible lens
- Zorki 3M w/silver Jupiter 8

I think the 3M is special -- great balance, design, and weight. I already like it better than my 4K ...

The collapsible will be used mainly on my Fed-2, which will be my carry-everywhere cam

A nice bottle of Bushmill's Irish whiskey. At least with that I can forget the cameras I would have liked to have received - LOL.

CV 40mm 1.4 for my R3a.

150mm f4 lens for my medium format system.

Snowmobile gloves, sweaters, cash, etc..

I bought a Omega D2 4x5 enlarger for my daughter, with the promise to build a darkroom in the basement. I just didn't think I could get it done on Christmas eve 🙂 I'll make some use of the darkroom also, so its a part present to myself as well. My daugther is very thrilled, so that is my biggest present!!!

Wow, congratulations to those with new Leicas and lenses and such! And I hope everyone had a great time with family and friends.

For our main gift to ourselves this year, my wife and I went to Hawaii for two weeks to relax and enjoy... My wife mostly shopped and I mostly shot pictures. I'm still going through the 14 rolls of 220 film I used.

No photographic gifts, through admirable self-restraint! But I got three of the sequels to Frank Herbert's Dune novel, a 4-DVD set of The Return of the King movie, and a wine-bottle opener gadget.
