Lost CV 21mm finder! Where can I get one?

Thanks, altough I don't think those are fair prices... 99$ is somewhat my max on such a thing that comes free with the lens.

well his prices are the going rate, so I would call that fair, however if you want one BELOW Fair market check Ebay OR wait until people start getting the new R4s in circulation they might be willing to part with their's [I for one will save mine so I can use it on other cameras like my R R2 or T]

You're right.

Just curious...have you tried using the lens without the finder? If so, did you feel crippled, or did it work reasonably well?

Thanks!
Don

If you think the Voigtlander viewfinder is pricey just look up the Zeiss equivalent. I think you'll discover that it's about twice the price.

Next look up the price of the Leica viewfinder. That will be twice the Zeiss price (four times the Voigtlander price).

Suddenly the Voigtlander price will look 'reasonable'.

It's not free - it's included in the price.

-If it's included in the price, then the lens costs only 150$ (since I paid 280 for the set). I have yet to find a 150$ deal on a 21mm Skoppar, though! Maybe you can help?
-If it's free, then the lens alone is 280$, which is the market price

*(all prices approximate and subject to change without notice).

My point of view corresponds to answer #2, obviously(!), because otherwise everybody would buy a boigtlander 21mm Skopar for 150$.

And if you presist to say it's "included" rather then free, then you're confirming that 130$ for a finder is way too much money as it logically should cost about 30$, thus leaving the lens at 250$.

I'm astounded at all the smartass answers I got. Thanks, all, anyway.

My car came with a free key.

But when I lost it they made me pay for a new one.

I understand your point. But in all honesty, if your dealer is a good dealer (or if you're a good negociator), as a "good" customer you could have gotten an extra key for free. Believe me, I worked at a car dealer as a salesman.

And this is why your example is not a good example in this case.

Thanks for your tremendous help, though!

1 There are some inexpensive FSU viewfinders around, but I've never seen a 21mm.

2 There may be people with 21mm lens and viewfinder who will migrate to an R4 and have no further need for the viewfinder.

Did you ever look at what it would cost to (re)build a car based on the price of the parts, compared to the cost of the thing whole on the other side of the dealership? 😱 😀

Substitution finders will be expensive. A couple of other finders in similar focal length ranges:

- Leica 21mm (will be too expensive)
- Zeiss 21mm (is even more expensive)
- Nikon Nikonos 20mm (usually around 100 EUR, sometimes there are bargains)
- Contax G 21mm
- Canon 19mm for their FL wideangle that required mirror lock-up
- Voigtlander 15mm (the 21mm finder is a 15mm finder with framelines, you can work around the lack of those with a few strips of tape)

Other ideas:

- someone here recently posted images of an 21mm (or 25mm?) finder made from a door peephole - the view is spherical, but you get the general idea, probably the cheapest low-tech solution
- if you think the price differential between a lens+finder set and the lens alone is too low, you can always take advantage of the low differential, buy a set and sell the lens

actually, if you can get a 20mm Russar finder, it is very good. Here is one: 330039404023. They usually go for less, are all metal and have parallax adjustment.
