Had a few rolls go through the wash in my pants. That was an interesting series to develop.

Never lost in the post, but I once lost a film that I knew I'd left in our kitchen. It was Autumn when I lost the film, and spring when I found it under a tree in the garden alongside a number of teaspoons.
I worked out that our cat's magnetic devise on her collar that activated the cat flap, was carrying small metallic items out to the garden that would then be deposited below the tree as she jumped up into it.
I had it developed but alas nothing came out.
That's hilarious! I'm sure mine is lost forever now as it's been so long. At least I can try to claim back the cost of the film from the post office... it was Velvia that cost me £12 so it's just worth it...

I has happened to me from 1970 to present, thankfully not often (and usually when I've been outside the US, but it has happened here too). What makes me just as mad (and this is recent, like this week) is when I develop 3 rolls of film and the images are all horrible (not the developing; the photographer). You start to think you have lost it, and not lost the film.

I lost all my slides, negatives and photos when we were flooded in Sandy.
They were all irreplaceable, but the destroyed family photos hurt the most.
I'm in good company. The local paper here lost its 100+ year photo archive.

I had a roll of film lost by Walgreens. I don't know how. Their photo lab is only 150 square feet. I got a CD of the images, but the negatives were gone.

Seems more disastrous if it would be your work and the photo's bring you a living..
and no it never happened to my films, however sometimes they came a little destroyed back from lab..
