All this nice equipment for sale now on RFF. A few months ago it would have been sold in just a few hours at these prices. I now see listings for M cameras and lens that have not sold for over a week. The prices are very reasonable, have we hit bottom as far as demand on used M Cameras & Lens? Or is everyone selling the film gear to go digital? Or is money very tight, and we all selling to each other to pay bills or other expenses?

There's always good stuff for sale. Quite a few items were just posted in the past couple of days. There are both digital and film cameras for sale. Prices haven't changed much in the past year. Middle of summer is not the hottest season for used camera gear. In short, I wouldn't read too much into it.

I see one guy selling a 28mm f2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH to fund an 8x10 purchase.

I've got a WTB out there, but no one is supplying.

The only things I've bought from the classifieds lately have been items I was actually looking for. (aside from the RD-1 ... that was pure impulse!)

I had a PannyLeica 25mm ordered from the place where I got my OMD and spotted Sug's for sale and an OM-3 appeared out of the blue for a price I was happy with and I knew the seller was an OM fanatic.

I'm amazed at how many Xpros have been advertised and we've already had a thread about about the number of M9s appearing. The constant recycling of very desirable gear through here does amaze me at times!

All posted arguments are valuable. In summer time (northern nations) I don't buy gear because I need the money for film, development and travel. Every time I look into the classifieds I see a few items I would buy without missing a beat. Will do it. In autumn.

I've been sorely tempted by at least 5 items on here in the last few weeks, but just couldn't justify them. That said I did pull the trigger on a couple.

A lot of ads include stuff that I already own but at much better prices than what I paid

without pointing with my fingers, i disagree: the M prices are rather high.
I am not saying high compared to e-bay (i am not checking e-bay), i am saying they are going up and up in the last year(s) continuously.

I bought an m2 with a collapsible summicron 4 years ago for the price that is asked for an m2-only now! And m2's are surely not rare.

Once on a while there's a hot deal like, the mamiya 7ii gear a week ago, that gets sold within minutes (literally); the rest is ...just too expensive.

But i realize it's all relative. For some, they might all still be a great deal (but then, why are they not bought?)

Who says prices are low?

I have sold an M3 for $500, a 35mm Cron V3 for $875 or so, a modern Elmar-M for $500, all within the last few years. Prices on a lot of those items seem to have doubled! I am guessing that in many cases it's simply becasue prices of new lenses have gone up...

I'm looking for an m6ttl .72 but I haven't seen one in the classifieds for a long time......I am going to be in the states next week so hopefully one will show up on here from a trusted seller or on craigslist......

cheers, michael

You should drop by Tokyo on your way home! Fujiya Camera in Tokyo currently has two in stock for 92,400 yen each. They even come with six month warranty.

I'd say at the moment, there are a lot of good new digital cameras out there, OM-D, X-Pro, NEX 7, all appealing to the RFF'r. Maybe people are a bit tied up with their new items to pay much attention to the used stuff at the moment. Maybe once the excitement wears off, they'll be back.

wow, those are excellent prices.....around 1,170 USD....If I could drop by Tokyo on my way back, I would buy one, but unfortunately, I can't.....my tickets are already booked.....BTW, when did you say you are coming to Bangkok.....maybe we could work something out before you come here.....that is if I don't find anything in the states.....

cheers,michael

I'd agree that prices are still too high, especially on M lenses. I think we'll see that start to change over the next year.
