Loud tick at beginning of advance (Electro CC)

Hi, I just recieved my first Electro 35 CC! It's a bit dusty, but once I cleaned it, it will be lovely.
One thing: when I advance the film, I hear a loud CLICK at the beginning. Sometimes I have to do the CLICK first to unlock the advance and then advance the film.
Something wrong here? Or could it be because this camera hasn't been used for 5 years?

I do not know exactly what this noise is but my CC has the same behaviour.

Within the time between my post and now, I have located the source of the sound. It looks like an easy fix. Take off the bottom of the camera and you will see. It's the shutterbutton that pushed down a 'rod'. And it doesn't come up again. When you try to advance, you will see that it 'shoots up' again. No problem really, but because it looks like such an easy fix, it might be worth fixing it.

seems like a normal clunk in my ears. Or maybe my ears don't want to hear POD problems. But the camera seems to be working fine.
Still I don't understand really why it's supposed to do that. It's the rod that is pushed down by the shutter release button. Isn;t that rod supposed to go up again when I take my finger of the button?

Hi Dave the rod in my Gt locks down but the one in my GSN dosen't even thought the gear system looks the same. What dose the larger rod do?

Now, when it is a bit darker, I can test the longer times of my 35 CC. When I put it on f/16 it takes a speed of what sounds like about one second. When I put it on f/11, one would think it would take something like 1/2 second. But no! It takes a time that is too fast to hear, so 1/30 or faster.

POD problem??? If yes, where can I find this POD in my 35 CC?

All my Electro GSNs make a loud "clunk" when advancing the film lever. 😎

Frank the one you sold me dosen't clunk at all, nothing but a nice soft click. Maybe it's just because it hasn't been used.

When you push down the shutter button, it pushes down on the rod on the right in my picture. This, in turn pushes down on the left hand rod, with a rubber pad in between the two. This is the Pad of Death, so called because the camera will be pretty much dead if the pad is deteriorated. The left hand rod is the one that latches at the bottom of travel and is released when the film is advanced. It springs back up and hits the pad. If the pad isn't the right thickness, the contacts attached to the left hand rod will not line up properly with the fixed circuit board behind it, the lights will not work properly and it will throw the shutter speeds off.

In another post, Gman told me that in a CC the POD is harder to replace than in a G-series camera. Why is that?

Thanks for the compliment, GMan, but I am just a newbie! I owned an Electro back in the early 70's and loved it, so about 6 months ago I ran an eBay search and found that there were a million of them for sale CHEAP! Ended up buying 35 of them by the time I was finished. I have learned a lot about them since then (I can remove and replace a lens/meter assembly in about 15 minutes) but you have a much deeper knowledge and experience base, I am sure. I think I just like to hear myself type... 😉
