Love that Heliar!

It is a misty morning in central Vermont, and fall here in the northern hemisphere. Our outrageous maple is putting on her annual show. Although I have been experimenting with panoramas recently, I had to dig out a lens wide enough to capture something essential about the tree. Love that CV Heliar in LTM. I'm sure the new one is great, but how do you mess with something that works so well?

I have been tempted several times to get the M mount, but like you, I am so pleased with the LTM I never have. I haven't missed a thing, IMO...

I tried a bunch of things before finally caving and buying John Milch's solution. It is a WA auxiliary hood that you use to sandwich a backwards UV/IR filter between the lens's own tulip shade and the aux. hood. The collection of items is held in place with a set screw. If the colors are important, the IR cut filter really makes a difference. Here's a crop from the same morning/same tree.

Are you discussing a Heliar 50mm 2.0 or a Heliar 50mm 3.5? New version or original version?

Sorry Raid -- I meant the 15mm LTM version that started CV down the LTM/M mount path. I do have 50mm versions of the other Heliars (the 3.5 in S-mount and the f:2 in M-mount). They are both interesting lenses. I just placed an order for a 27mm IR cut filter for use of the f:3.5 model on the M8.

But to be clear, the two pictures above are made with the 15.
