Hi everyone,
I just picked up a Mamiya 6 (along with a Hassy X-Pan) with all three lenses and would love to see some people/portraits from this camera. I am an editorial/wedding shooter and always wanted to incorparate the square format for portraits into my work. Please post some of your favorite work or any links you think my be interesting.
Cheers,
Josef

Film is the other way
Hi Josef
there is a thread for Mamiya 6/7 owners at RFF . Take a look at some of the galleries of the owners for the type of shots you want.
regards, Jan

All except the last (75mm) with the 50mm.
I find the 150 very slow to focus given the amount of travel in the focusing ring.
Cheers,
Nick

Interesting , I have the 150 and hardly use it. Mostly 75 and 50 mm are my go to lenses. I think it is a good one to have with this outfit but have to say it is underused by me. Still if I ever need a tele then I've got it.

hi josef,
congratulations on your mamiya 6 acquisition...i have had my kit ( mamiya 6 + 6mf w/ 50, 75, +150mm lens ) for six/seven (?) years and have come to use it more than most of my other cameras and i think the more you use yours , the more you will enjoy it + the results...
...not sure how to move images from 'my gallery' to this spot as others have done, but you could go to my gallery to check out the series in color of my grandbaby + her first wading pool...these were all made with the so-called "difficult to focus" 150mm + kodak ultra color 400 + 800... s
...several concious decisions were made before any photography took place...first i chose my vantage point ahead of time to try to keep a 'clean' background, then i used a combination of pre-focusing and good ol' patience for the proverbial right moment, i used the fastest iso film i could - to deal with the inherent more shallow field of focus that goes with medium format lens in general and with this 'longer' focal length in particular - more technically versed rff folks can explain that better than i can...
... with you being an editorial/wedding photog i realize my suggestions are not new to you, but thought they might be helpful to bring up...i will try to get my lazy-non-technical-knuclehead self in gear and post some more mamiya 6 images.
...enjoy and bon chance !! kenneth

My Mamiya 6 is my primary B+W camera, (and a Nikon F4 is my primary colour neg camera) at weddings. I only have the normal 75mm lens for it. I almost always print rectangular though, to make it easier for my clients.

I had all 3 lenses but the star performer for me was the 75mm. Here are 5 shots, so you could have a look.
1 & 3 & 5 - With 75.
2 with 150mm
4 with 50mm
Wish I havnt sold this camera. just missed the one on sale in the forum
Its the greatest camera around, the 75mm is just good for everything.
