Other/Uncategorized Lovely Pentax 43/1.9 Special in LTM mount

Other Screw mount bodies/lenses
Hi Raid,

Looks very nice. I've only taken mine out a couple of times, but haven't needed any external hoods, just the small built-in one. Have you found the need for extra hood?

I forgot that the lens has a built-in lens hood. The extra lens hood provides extra protection for the front glass.

I just saw this little gem on eBay: 150186529494

The 43/1.9 Limited lens is one of the sharpest lenses available in Pentax K mount. I'm craving to try this lens in Leica mount. Too bad it's so expensive :bang:

Cheers,

Abbazz

Abbazz,
I notice the unusual serial number of "your lens", starting with the digits 12. The other lenses shown here start with 0000.
Do you know why your lens has the large number?

I wonder if they did that just for the silver versions?

Could be, so that 12 implies chrome, and the last 4 digits give the serial number.
I looked up older threads with same chrome lenses starting with digits 12.

there is a different silver one on flickr that starts with the 12 as well.

My black one is like yours, 0000 then s/n, mine is in the 500s.

800 lenses were made in chrome and 1200 were made in black.
You would think that using 12 is better suited for the black lenses.

Raid, I think you're right about the serial number indicating finish color, likely different production runs. Similarly, Bronica changed the two leading digits of the RF645 from 00 to 11 to indicate earlier production with 135mm lens framelines and later production with 100mm framelines. My black 43mm L starts with 0000 and is in the 300s.

In the end, it is the "lovely lens" that really matters. I have the 43mm lens now mounted on the Bessa R for a great set. The focus is super easy snapping in place, and the lens is soooo smooth!
