I've used my X-E1 since the holiday sale prices convinced me to buy one. I just did some sacrilege for a wetplate and LF film shooter - I took a few files to Walgreens and had them print me some 8x10s. Just to see what they looked like, and to compare to my 5x7 and 8x10 contact prints. Fantastic prints!
Loving it! I like the sensor a lot. I like the color renditions, and the quick way to adjust to the different film simulations. With an accessory thumbrest, I like the feel better. And I have no problems with the EVF or menus or any of the other things some people supposedly have ("12 clicks to format a card..." [another post] give me a break - it's a couple three, and fast). Focus peaking, schmokus peaking. Didn't need it, before, or now that it has it. I'm focusing a Canon 50/1.4 just fine, thank you:

One for sale here....
One for sale here....
A fellow about twenty miles from me has an XE-1 with the zoom lens (15-85???) for sale on craigslist....$650... low shutter count.
On CL all of december... still there.
Hmmm?
Oh, not for me of course. Only fuji stuff I shoot are the film 690 BIG ones.
And the S5 Pro... Fujifilm pissed me off when they did not come out with an S6.
Not following their "faux" rangefinder line.

The S series was a loosing game for them IMHO. I really don't believe they ever ended getting the sales they needed from them plus they were caught behind the Nikon perverbial 8 ball. They had to weight for Nikon to release the new dslr body and may also not been able to acquire it early to start the work of putting their own digital path to replace the Nikon. For all we know Nikon could have pulled the rug from underneath them.
Anyway, I had two acquaintances who had the s3 and s4 respectively. Both wedding photographers at the time. They eventually switched to the latest Nikon dslr at the time if I remember correctly..

i am pretty satisfied with my fuji x-e1…enough that i bought a second body and am not all that tempted by the second gen x-e2.

If you're not following the fuji line, what are you doing here? Do me a favor, if you don't care about the camera in a thread, don't post. Because I for one don't care what you don't like. I don't like sauerkraut, but I don't go into a German cooking thread and moan how I don't like it. Is there some point of going around posting in all the threads about what you don't like? It comes across very arrogant yet whiny at the same time.....

Glad your Canon 50/1.4 (RF LTM or SLR?) works well. Do you still have one of the Nikkor 50/1.4s to use on the X-E1? Have you used it? Your thoughts please. Do you have the current firmware?
What are you using for RAW conversion? Or using JPEGS straight from the camera? Any B&W images yet?
BTW, it is interesting that we frequent both the Large and the Small format forums and share an interest in a piece of gear or two. The Fujifilm digital line is on my short list for a really small digital camera.
Standing by. Check book at the ready.

Hi Wayne. Yes, I do shoot the Nikkor 1.4 on it too. I was just at an auction, and got the Canon 1.4, so have been trying it out....my first. I like the Nikkors because they're like mini Veritos, wide open they're a little soft. More than a Cooke knuckler, anyway. Now, we have the non LFs all confused! See the "Tokyo ver Japan Nikkor 50/1.4" comparison thread, I took with this camera.
I shoot JPGs only, and have just played a tad with the B&W. It's a good camera, I have no regrets. I didn't even buy the standard lenses, yet. Just shooting all LTM and Pen-F. But would probably get the 35/1.4, except the same auction had a Canon 35/2 which I'm dying to wring out!

Here are two I took with the Nikkor 50/1.4, showing the two things I love about this lens, the soft focus glow at F1.4, compared to F2. And the amazingly close focus ability of this lens, it will focus at about 18 inches.

I had the X-E1 and sold it to get the X-E2. After all was said and done, I would have been happy just keeping the X-E1. But I gotta say....the X-E2 rocks.

There it is! Exactly the question I wanted answered. You read my mind.
I also have the old Canon SLR 50/1.4 S.S.C. that I think focuses in the same range, maybe a bit closer. One of several old 35mm film lenses that I want to use on a small digital body.
You're killing me. And my bank account.
Have fun! Keep the old lens eye candy coming!
