Just acquired an Electro 35 GSN in very good condition, will put a roll of film through it over next few days. However, I have noticed during "dry" testing that if I set camera on "Auto," select smallest aperture, and cover metering cell while pressing shutter release, the shutter does not stay open for any appreciable length of time. In fact it acts as if it was set to "B." The shutter opens when release is pressed and stays open until released. I will further test this by shooting some frames at night. Has anyone else encountered this problem, if it is indeed a problem?

That is normal the shutter closes if you let go of the shutter realese.Try again and wait until it closes but it can take minutes if you cower the meter cell completely.Good luck with the Yashica

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks to both forum members who posted responses to my question. My Yashica Electro 35 GSN will be on its way to Mark Hama early next week. Once repaired, I am looking forward to shooting B&W with it.
