LR Import Process Screwed

FWIW, except for the dimmed previews, I actually prefer this import method by a long shot. It's much easier to point directly at a folder to import from...no more clicking through half a dozen nested ones in the sidebar. I'll be kinda sad to see it go.

Just to let you know you're not alone... I feel the same way. And FYI you can uncheck the box at the top to remove the check mark and un-dim the previews.

Went back, tried Lr 6.2.1 again on my test system.
Nope, still loathe the new import mess

I know, Petapixel is often bashed here at RFF and personally I don't like their Podcast. However, the first about 6:50 Minutes may be of interest in this thread, as it also makes some remarks about LR and its overall SW architecture:

The conclusion there is different than mine: they suggest, it may be time for Adobe to rewrite LR from scratch. I think, this could be a solution for the future to improve LRs code base quality. And when they are at it, they should start adding a complete and automated test environment.

I wouldn't worry too much about it; Adobe is backpedalling and returning to the old import workflow due to all of the pressure they recieved. Supposed to be in the next . release I believe.
