Hi All,
So I recently noticed that in LR the library and develop modules show a different image in terms of exposure and colour. I believe it was coincident with an upgrade to El Capitan. From the searches I did, it looks like the library module uses AdobeRGB and the develop module uses ProPhoto. I'm running an early 2009 iMac.
Firstly, has anyone else noticed this? And secondly, does anyone know of a fix?

I noticed this back in 3, it's still a problem?
My solution was dumping LR for C1, much nicer. But you could force the program to use only one calibration profile.

saw once that thumbnail didn't update in Library side. you can try optimise catalog, from catalog settings, "when lightroom next exists". that will backup catalog but also checks its data.

I have never seen this. But I never used LR 5 with OS 10.11 either.
I am stunned to learn the previews are in sRGB while the Develop Module is in ProPhoto. I assume if the preview is expanded to full size (click on the preview) the color space has to be PhotoPro. I have never, ever seen a permanent color/rendering mismatch.
What I have seen is: after I clear out the LR Preview Cache, LR has to rebuild new previews on the fly. In this case the small previews in Grid mode sometimes initially display as though the Develop settings were never applied. After a fraction of a second, the grid Preview renders with the Catalog parameters. This has nothing to do with OS 10.11 as I've seen the same behavior for years.
I also noticed if I have a lot of other Apps open or when Time Machine is doing an hourly back up, the delay for the Preview to refresh and show the Development parameters.
If your HD is has sufficient swap space and the UNIX underpinnings are properly maintained, there's not much else you can do.
