Why is the Skopar 28/3,5 LTM lens "chromed brass"(?) instead of the Al of the other Skopars? Terrific lens, yet always a surprise when I pick it up 😉

rgds,
Dave

I believe the 50 Skopar is brass as well, and the 50 Heliar Classic. Maybe one of the 35 Skopars too? Possibly others... Agree the 28 Skopar is a sweetie, and i regret selling mine.

Hiyas,
Yes, Doug, there are others CV that are brass chromed... I don't have the 50, stopped at 35 with the Skopars... just odd that this one(28/3,5) is, AFAIK in "silver" brass rather than Al.

Is the "black" version Aluminum? All my Skopars are "silver", so I have no ref on the black versions... 'cept the 40 and 75, non-Skopar.

rgds,
Dave

I have always believed that KobayashiSan is a 40/28 shooter 🙂
So the 28s and 40 got special attention.

Roland.

Well, maybe... so these 35 and 50 variants were produced to offset costs for the 28 Skopar and 40 SC? While folks seem to like the 28 Skopar, the 21 and 25 went M-mount first(M8 owners as target?)... and the 40 new is priced about what other used 40s get recently.

It's just odd that the 28 Skopar LTM is so not like other Skopars. Between the two, the 28 Skopar draws better than the 40... oh, and I've the SC version for the contrast, or lack thereof 😉

rgds,
Dave

Voigtlander lenses evolve with time and it seems to be in response to enthusiast demands. The 50 and 28 skopars came out together and their build was to address comments that the earlier lenses were a bit flimsy in comparison to the big L's. With the black versions however they brassed really badly so in the next evolution they made them with less brass but the finish wears better and also consumer demands for M mount lenses and conventional tabs. Its good to see a company that listens to the consumer and upgrades its products so readily.
