Hey everyone, so I have a couple Voigtlander LTM lenses, the 28 f/3.5 and 50 f/2.5, I really like them quite a bit and naturally they work really well on the IIIf body I have, but I've used them now on both my film M bodies and everything is just wonderful.

Where I'm getting confused is with the Monochrom body that I picked up. The 28mm works as intended, but the 50mm brings up the 28mm framelines unless I don't quite click the lens into place on the camera's bayonet. I'm assuming that this is due to the LTM to M adapter, so I'm sure the answer is to buy better adapters, but my curious nature is leading me to wonder WHY it works on my film Ms just fine but not the digital.

Any thoughts?

It is possible that the Monochrom is designed with a different set of frameline pairs and requires a different adapter to bring up the 50mm framelines. From memory this kind of change was made with some other Leica Ms. Failing this it could be an adapter tolerance issue which might be fixed with a couple of swipes of a needle file (it depends however on whether there is too much or too little metal left on the registration surface of the adapter and I would need to look further into that as I cannot recall off the top of my head).

Edit: I think it is due to a difference in the frameline pairs for later cameras. According to a post here http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/235714-framelines/
"Your manual explains and shows the frame line pairs that come up for each of 6 focal lengths, which on the M8 are 24/35, 50/75 and 28/90. You see the frame lines for the lens mounted and one other. The lever brings up alternate pairs so you can get an idea of different fields of view."

This is a different pairing to those in earlier cameras from memory. This suggests your adapter work to bring up the 28mm frameline in the Monochrom by design. ie you need a 50/75mm adapter deesigned ofr later cameras.

I may be wrong but that is how it seems to me.

But the strange thing is that my MP and M-A both have the same frameline pairs that the Monochrom has. Works on the film Ms but not the Mono.

That's what has me stumped.

Then it is possible that its just a minor difference in the tolerances used by the earlier cameras and the adapter. I have a vague recollection that I have had adapters which have varied a bit in this regard.
