LTM for Daily Carry

I tried using an If with a 35/3.5 for several months for an everyday carry, but it just didn't work for me. I had great hopes that it would...

I have a Standard with a VC 25mm. Really nice to shoot with, direct, no messing about. Any exposure chart will work, the old Kodak photo guides work great. You can easily create your own.

The little ideogram on the film box end tag is the best aid to be had for free.

My favorite carry around camera is a Leica IIIc with either a 21mm cv or 5cm Summitar. I sometimes instead use the IIIa with 35mm cv or Summaron.

The IIIc was the camera with the highest production numbers so it tends to be the least expensive and is very reliable. I carry mine with a Elmar 3.5 collapsible and its tiny and the images are excellent!!

How long did it take to get used to the seperate VF &RF windows? I wouldn't think it would be too bad but just curious.

I lost out on a Black III on eBay last night....just got too rich for my blood. I've got my eye on a few others. I'm leaning towards prewar right now, mostly just because it appeals to me for some odd reason. But I've got my eye's on a bunch of stuff right now.

It is a worthwhile choice to carry a Leica iii every day, I do. I have both a Elmar 50/3.5 and a 50/2 Summitar. It is a slow-er camera to use because of the squinty rangefinder/viewfinder and the time it takes to change aperture. These lenses are very prone to flare and glare. But when your images are on! They are a pleasure to print and view.

Oh, one side benefit. These cameras are a babe magnet. You will be asked by at least one woman a day about your camera. So if you want to make time that way!

Both are going to need a CLA but I would have done that regardless.

Who is better with the Barnacks DAG or Youxin? What does a CLA run for one of these little jewels?

Dag and Youxin are both good with LTM's.
