Hey guys,
I'm thinking about buying a CL, but I was wondering about something.
What are the options for using LTM lenses with an M adapter on it?
Or is that just crazy talk?
Any input would be much apreciated,
Tom

Of the collapsible lenses, I think only the Summicron 50 can be collapsed safely, due to the CL's metering arm.

You should be able to do it with the same restrictions as you have for M lenses. By this I mean from memory you should not use a collapsible lens which will foul the meter arm inside the camera body or alternatively put some tape around the barrel of the lens to avoid it collapsing accidentally and causing damage. (Dymo label tape used to be the recommended thing. Not sure if you can still get it. But any type of robust tape should work.)

On the other hand if you use a Elmar 90mm f 4 or Summarit 50 or tother rigid lens you should find it works OK.

The one other limitation I know of is the rangefinder base-length which means focusing is not accurate enough to focus 135mm lenses with sufficient accuracy to give reliable shots. (Query also the use of fast lenses like the Summarit when used wide open.)

Other than the limitations cited above (avoiding lenses that collapse too far into the body that it contacts the meter arm & extremely fast lenses used wide open such that the short rangefinder base length is problematic), there are no limitations to using ltm lenses with adapters on the CL. Works just the same as any other M camera in that regard. My CL kit includes a Canon 28/3.5 lens with adaptor and it works great. I've also shot with other ltm lenses and never had any problems.

Get a Canon 50mm F1.5 for it. Fast, does not intrude into the CL viewfinder, and fits in the pouch case. Get a Canon 35/2.8 for a wide-angle. Even smaller.

Thanks for all the input guys.
You've certainly put some thoughts into my head. I'm going to have to mull this one over, and watch prices too.
I can feel another wave of GAS coming on... Ooh dear, poor bank account.

When I was still shooting film, I really enjoyed the small package the CL and a CV 25/4 makes. A Jupiter-8 was also lovely on the CL.

I mount regularly, on my Leica CL, the VC Apo Lanthar 90/3.5 LTM, the Jupiter-9 85 mm f/ 2 LTM or the Nikkor 85/2 LTM with proper adapter.
Ciao.
Vincenzo
