Anyone else use a Metabones M to M43 adapter with LTM lenses?

I have one and it seems well enough constructed, but when mounted on the GF1 it does not allow use of the distance scale on the lenses, and most irritatingly for me it throws the infinity reading out. Seems the lens when mounted on the Metabones adapter will focus beyond infinity, meaning that just setting the lens to infinity renders distant objects out of focus. Of course, you can focus the GF1 using the EVF, but it's a PITA to have to do so, esp if, for example, shooting a landscape from a moving car, when the vehicle's movement combines with the refresh rate of the EVF to make focussing that way a total impossibility.

I notice the Headbartender says that all the Voigtlander adapters allow infinity lens focussing… Does anyone know if the problem I'm having is endemic in Metabones adapters? Or do I have a duff one? Or is it that these adapters work fine for M-mount lenses, but not for LTM?

Wow - quiet in here!

Anyway, I think I've solved my own problem. Bought a Voigtlander adapter from Robt White yesterday and tested it out on arrival today. Works fine. Scale & infinity focusing both usable.

Expensive (3 x Metabones price), but you get what you pay for. As to whether my Metabones adapter was a duff example, only others can say.

I'll just say caveat emptor

Hopefully I'll be buying a GF1 from Robert White any day now. If you ever go there you'll have a bad GAS attack! Stacks of very desirable kit everywhere. They're only 20 minutes from me, which could prove to be very expensive!

I used to live just up the road from Robert White when I lived in England. Haven't been in there for years. Must take a look next time I visit my parents.

Jim, I've just noticed this thread. I've got a Metabones adapter, although I haven't used it for anything serious I recall the infinity focus is OK with my Summitar and Canon 50/1.2 lenses. Maybe you could send yours for replacement.

My Fotodiox adapter focuses beyond infinity.

I really don't mind, as I'm only using an OM 50mm 1.8 with it, and I tend to always focus with the screen or zone focus with a sufficient margin of error as regards dof.

Thanks Marduk, that's interesting. I got the Metabones on ebay (no other source in UK), so I may have difficulty, but I will try that
