LTM Single exposure holder help, please!

There are two styles for Barnacks. I'd really like to have one for my II and III, but don't know which one fits. Also can't remember the Leica-lingo for each of these devices.

I'm really forced to be budget oriented, so if the simple plate with slot type works in the above cameras, I'd like to fabricate one since the originals are as rare as hen's teeth.

If anyone here has one, would you be kind enough to post a couple of photos of it, along with the dimensions. I know that request will take some time, so my thanks in advance for all of your trouble.

Back in my LF days, I used some emulsions that are not available in 35mm...lith film comes to mind offhand.

I'd never heard of these before but I was curious and Google'd.

FHKOO is, as you say, a device for exposing a single frame of film. This particular one is for the Leica I, II, III, IIIa and IIIb models. Another, coded FCKOO, was produced for using with the Ic, IIc, IIIc and IIIf up to serial no. 590681). Value again, I suspect is residual to all but collectors.

Jo, have you considered simply loading your own cassettes from a bulk load reel?

This was how most Leica enthusiasts used 35mm film back in the day. You can choose to load 6, 12, 20 or whatever frames you need for that session with reusable cassettes.

Echo Andrew (Solinar). Single film holders must be put into the camera and removed from it in the dark. If you fabricate one, your pressure plates will be in danger. When I rolled my own, I'd often have lengths of 10 or so exposures -- either for short jobs or to test emulsions, lenses, etc.

I wouldn't consider shooting a Barnack without loading my own. With the length difference of factory cassettes, some image always falls into the sprocket holes....Yech. I'll use my brass Leitz cassettes. I do like my 12's.

What I'd like to have is the ability to use some of the sheet film (or even roll film) emulsions I used to use. As I mentioned originally, I would like to use some lith film currently and don't recall any sources for it in 35mm perforated.

Yes, I do understand the holder, and the camera would need to be loaded in the dark....perfect use for a changing bag if the film was already cut in my darkroom. I don't see offhand how it would jeopadize the pressure plate. The have recessed edges and are spring loaded, aren't they?

Sometimes I just don't understand the responses I get on these forums. Maybe it's just my crabby, aging self 😡

I have the FCKOO version, 1951-1960, for the Leica Ic, the IIc, the IIf, the IIIc and the Leica IIIf up to Ser. No. 590,681, unless the base plate was replaced with one that does not have a film alignment bar.

It's made in Germany, of course, and you have to load it in the darkroom...I bought it for old-times sake, even though I no longer do any developing, because I used one many years ago...

Here's what mine looks like: (It's very gently used, although I never used it)...and is in minty condition...The only writing on the holder is the word Germany (in the center. right photo) and the letter C. Maybe someone knows what the C means...

A very kind offer, and thank you as well for taking the time to shoot and post the pictures, as well. Your detailed decription leads me to believe that I would need the other type with a standard II and III. I've seen them occasionally, but unfortunately they are VERY expensive ($300 range at shops), so I believe I'll just get another 4X5 for my experiments. Seems like a better way to go.
