LTM to M generic adapters

I just bought an Epson RD1. I already have 3 lenses: CV15mm CV35 1.7 Jupiter50 2.0 all screw mount that I use with my Bessa R. In my local photo store the Voigtlander LTM to M adapter costs more than 50euros, I also found on eBay some cheap LTM to M adapter from chine suppliers.

Any experience with generic adapters? Any difference in terms of focussing capabilities?

I have two different varieties of Chinese adapters, and both work flawlessly. The lenses don't wobble or anything--they perform just like the CV and Leitz ones, as far as I can tell.

Also, because they were cheap, I had no qualms about filing one down the other day to get the right frameline on my M2.

Some are all right, others are bloody awful. You'd best go by another person's experience of a particular seller.

I had the latter experience. I got a 35, 90, and two 50s. The 90 and one of the 50's wouldn't turn all the way, and the other 50 brought up the 35/135 lines (If it were the other way, I could file it down). He said he would replace them, but after I sent them back I never heard again.

Try to find a seller with a good reputation here. I believe HeavyStar sells them; I've had good experiences buying hoods from that seller.

Tanks for the replays,

I bought two on ebay today. I wanted to buy in Europe. 27euros including shipping costs. If I find any problem I will buy a VC adapter in my local photo store.

On my M2 the focus line ups are below the thing im focusing on as opposed to right on top like regular. Did this happen to you?

I'm not sure what you mean--is the alignment off on your rangefinder patch? The adapter shouldn't affect that...you might want to start a new thread on the subject, so the Leica geeks will chime in!

Do you mean that the lens is slightly turned, so that the focus point is not right on top (12 oclock), but is instead slightly down the side (1 oclock).

If so - I have wide variation depending on lens and body. As long as you don't try to use the top as your focus mark, and instead use the mark inscribed on the focus scale then you are fine. Nothing unusual about that.

I think it's just me getting used to the M2 focusing, I know the M3 is the 12 o clock style. Is there a difference between the generic adapters and the leitz one do you know of?

Adapter Flange Thickness

Adapter Flange Thickness

The most important thing to check on these adapters is the flange thickness.
It must read 1.0mm or else the focus on your len's will be out.
