I bet this seller had no idea what they were selling.

This 1950s Voigtlander 50/1.5 LTM lens was listed as an SLR lens with no reserve, no minimum bid.

What a pleasant surprise they surely received when this auction closed.

The Voigtlander Nokton slotted to take the place of the ever loved Zeiss Sonnar on the Contax IV, which was never produced. It is said to have among the best build quality of any lens made. Too bad my $31 bid didn't stick so I can't confirm that.

Neither did my $151.87 one 🙂 I think our fellow furcafe was there too...

Fun that while it was around $60 when there was a day to go, sure that a bunch of us were looking at that auction and also at Stephen Gandy's page on that lens at the same time, mainly at the section where he says one went for $3000 😀

Haha, no offense taken Pherdi, it was not the pleasure of owning one that impulsed me, but the thought of getting it for $150 and selling it for $3000 later 😀

Or trading it for a black paint Nikon SP...

My thought exactly. I may have had trouble reselling it though, you know, it is a 50. 😀

I could never bring myself to pay so much for lense for a 35mm camera. I'd put $2,700 into a nice medium format camera and lense instead.
