Initially, my thought was "why bother" since I already had the zoom & can use the wide end instead. However, the improvement in handling & size were two factors that caught my eye.
There's talk on the net about distortion from this lens, but I haven't noticed it in the photos I've taken so far... plus I'm not well versed in all the technicality between this & that body & this & that lens correction...
...very happy with the purchase.

I just got my 14/2.5. Initial observations are excellent. It's very small. Sorta' makes the 20/1.7 look large. ;-) It appears to be super sharp. Here are a couple of images from today taken with my E-PL1, both at f2.5, processed in LR3.

Another shot with the E-PL1 and the Lumix 14mm/2.5, this one from a trip into town this morning. ISO 160, processed in LR3.

Any news where it is available? I tried BH, Adorama and Amazon nothing yet.

How does it compare to the Oly 17mm?
I'd like to buy an EP1 or EP2 and although everyone loves the Panny 20mm 1.7, i found out from buying and selling a 40mm Summicron for my M4-P that I just don't like that focal length. Ended up buying a 35mm Summicron at more than twice the price and am much happier.
I mostly shoot with 28mm but I can do 35mm too. The 17mm would be much cheaper as a kit with either body right now but if the 14mm Panny is much better I'd consider it.

I'd give a body part for a fast portrait lens in the same vein.

I just checked amazon.com, and they're available there for $399.99.

Nothing at Precision as well, besides it seems their Panny lenses are on the high side as with the 7-14.

Yes, alas, I stand corrected...

I just got mine today from the Camera store. I ordered online. They are there, just not listed under the correct category. https://www.thecamerastore.com/products/panasonic-lumix-14mm-f28
I'm loving it. I knew it was going to be small and light, but it still surprised me. It's tiny!
I also echo Franks though. I'd love a good portrait lens. I was thinking of the 45 macro, but it's not the best for portraits.
Cheers,
Nick

I've heard nothing but good things about this lens - it will be the next lens I get for the E-P2 - I don't think I'll miss (that much) the Ricoh GRD II if this lens proves to be as good as everyone says.

Dave, it is an excellent lens. Makes my GF1 truly coat pocketable.

I got the lens a few days ago. It's very small. It is very, very quiet. It doesn't make a sound focusing. The AF is almost instantaneous. Really happy with the lens...

Yes - small, fast & quiet....its unobtrusiveness negated only by the gf1's shutter...
It is a nice lens - tried it on a gh2 and that was instantaneous!

Can you provide a few photos of the gear: the GF1 with each lens mounted? Thanks.

Is it really smaller than the 17mm ?
