The placement of the EVF is perfect. Its not a very high resolution EVF, still a huge step forward.

Unfortunately, this camera only has the 1/1.7" CMOS sensor, which is not that good

I would very much like to check this one out for a family camera to replace my ancient Sony.

Yeah, that's too bad, but it is a sign of things to come. EVF in a P&S and APSC in point and shoots are both reality. In no time, someone will combine them.
The EVF sounds tiny...
"The DMC-LF1 is a sleek, stylish digital compact camera but it comes with 0.2-inch EVF (Electronic Viewfinder) with 200K-dot resolution, 100% field of view."

It might be like looking at newsprint from 3".

This is the perfect pocket camera.
Low res EVFs set to monochrome becomes more simple and clear... The $500 price is high for the sensor size but it'll come down dramatically once the camera hits the market.

however with an EVF, it's like gaining another stop of stability so you can use lower ISO settings

If it's anything like some of the older lumix camera's EVF's, it'll be pretty poverty...

There's more to an EVF than just the pixel count. Refresh rate and dynamic range play roles too in image quality. If those are OK, 200K pixels still can be enough to make this camera more attractive than its finderless brethren..

Oh don't get me wrong... I'd rather have a bad EVF than no EVF, but it is small... there is no way around that.
