Has anyone used the clip on viewfinder on their gf1 or gf2, l have a gf 2 and lm toying with trying the clip on finder, also toying with getting a fuji x100

I have a Lumix GF1 with an Olympus VF1 optical viewfinder attached to the hotshoe.
I use it with the 14mm lens and the whole finder outside the lines approximates the angle of view. The lines are probably nearer to the 20mm.

I have used the LVF1 EVF on my GF1 extensively. For me, it is very usable and useful in situations where I prefer to use a viewfinder vs. composing on the rear LCD (like in bright sunlight, or when using a long telephoto lens). However, if you are accustomed to using an OVF or one of the newer high-res EVFs, you may be very disappointed with the LVF1 because of its low resolution.
I like the built-in diopter adjustment, and some folks also find the 90 degree tilt feature very useful.

compared to the olympus offerings (even evf3) the lvf1 leaves a lot to be desired. the resolution is very low but it's physical size is kept small.
but it does (as warren points out) serve a purpose for shooting in bright sunlight where composing with a LCD screen will be difficult (if not impossible)
the 90 degree swivel feature is useful too.
also for some reason, the olympus vf1 (the clip on OVf for the 17mm) on my gf1 is very inaccurate compared to what i see in the lcd screen. could be the fact that the hotshoe on the olympus' are a little offset from the lumix offerings.

Don't bother with a clip-on finder!
Use a 'ClearViewer' from Gary Robertshaw.

I find it very good, cheaper than an evf too.
Gary is a great guy to talk to and deal with and will attempt to make something to fit most camera.
