Luna Pro calibration

Have Luna Pro (old one - runs on Mercury cells) which meters 3-5 stops over real measurments(compared reflected measurements of Luna Pro to Minolta 800si and Oly OM1 built in meters). Any information on how to calibrate it and whether it's worth trying?

Is it supposed to be adjusted to zero with no battery like the Luna Pro SBC? I am not sure. I know there are kits sold on eb*y (buyer beware) that purport to change the voltage so it will work properly. I don't know how well they work. Mine has some kind of regular batteries in it (that came with it when I bought it off eb*y) and I never paid any attention to what they were. It is only 1 stop different than my SBC, something easy to live with.

What kind of batteries are you using in it? Don't use alkaline! I have the Gossen adapter for using mine with standard silver cells 1.55V.

It's adjusted to zero w/o battery. So problem is in something else. Btw incident measurements more close to the reality but still good 2-3 stops over.

How do you like the adapter? I have thought of getting one, but as I noted, for now, my Luna Pro is only 1 stop from the SBC, and that is quite acceptable.

I've used the meter with it for 3 years of shooting colour transparencies. It definitely works for me, though overpriced even at the $16 I paid. (I think its even more now)

I know those Gossen adapters are expensive.

I can't find anyone in Canada who sells them, even after someone at the Gossen website telling me who to contact in Canada. I've yet to hear a reply!

I was looking at B&H but even at $39.95US, I might consider it. I have at least three cameras that it maybe useful for!

Has anyone been using 675 Zinc Air cells in the LunaSix successfully. Just how much does the voltage differences affect this meter.

Is it seriously $40 USD now? It was $16 USD + NY tax when I visited B&H on a business trip to NYC in 2002!

I haven't put it to a multimeter but I don't think the kit is anything more than a spacer and a new sticker illustrating how to put the cells in. No voltage change in it at all I think.

I doubt they are selling many of them!

I would be curious if you could test the voltage. I've heard a similar comment to yours, "spacer with a sticker on it". Not very encouraging if you only have one piece of gear that uses it, but...

If it makes a difference, I could use it for my Gossen Meter, Nikon F and a Nizo Super8, (Yes I still shoot Super8, see the avatar), and could certainly cause an expanding GAS attack on my part for gear using those pesky mercury batteries 😀

Try John Neal of this forum. He sells excellent inexpensive adaptors. I am using two in my Lunasix.
