Lux logical upgrade to CV 40/1.4?

Andy,

Email me or call me. I have the 35 Lux ASPH and the 50 Lux ASPH. We can talk about them and if you want, meet up someplace in the week for you to shoot something with your lens and mine. You can make the direct comparison of the same scene, in your style, without worrying about small JPEG review and articfacts on the web.

Best,

Ray

I hear the new ones are too sharp and lack personality but have not experienced them yet. I'd appreciate any feedback.

Don't know what's the reason to complain about too much sharpness... what's wrong with making sharp 20"x30" prints? The bokeh of the 1.4/35 asph is much better than it's reputation (which is mostly posted by non-asph owners who never used the asph). The pre-asph 35 lux ist indeed quite unsharp wide open - but as compact as the Nokton.

I have the 40 Nokton, too, but it's a tad too long for being a standard lens on the R-D1, and it's bokeh is sometimes really quite ugly (see Nokton wide open thread, scroll down).

In love with the 50/1.4 lux asph

In love with the 50/1.4 lux asph

Earlier today I got a chance to use my R-D1 with several new Leica lenses, including the 50mm Summilux asph (thank you Ray!) My 50mm rf quality standard has been the 50/2 M-Hexanon and I must say the lux has made a huge impression on me. In short, I cannot think of anything that I could want in an image that the lux did not provide. Needless to say, I am in love. As usual, it will cost me an arm and a leg 🙂

Andy,

I truly believe that the 50 Lux ASPH is not only Leica's best 50 ever, but their best lens ever.

I'm soooooo GLAD that I can help you spend your money.😉 😀

Best,

Ray
