Hi, since some time slow speeds on my beautiful 5000 are sticking; shutter, that is. Before jumping into shutter, just wanted to make recognition - if escapement is removed [for cleaning] from Copal shutter, later it should be adjusted when put back, to have exact times ? From Rick Oleson's Compur (similar in construction) pages I see that "half-kogwheel" adjusts length of slow speeds, right?
Any suggestions on this issue will be appreciated!

Before removing SS escapement, I've slightly lubed winding mechanism including some points on linkage connecting shutter and winding mechanism. After that 1/2 and 1 speeds appeared to close shutter. Not sure whether it's coincidence or it really needed some help.

Back to SSE...after some time it started to drag again and I decided to go full bank. Right now SS swims in lighter fluid, after about five previous baths. Some crud has been washed out, this bath remains clean.
Now question....CLA includes letter "L"....should star wheel shaft be oiled at all?
Internet wisdom says "go dry if it works" though lubing certain parts seems to be normal. I'd like to hear info from first mouths, this time - do slow speed escapement needs lubing?
As for oils, I have small tube of oil for beard trimmer and sure, have read Jon Goodman's and Rick Olesons' info on separating WD-40 - in case I need oils.

Yesterday put SS back into shutter, now have to wait for a week to see if bath-o-matic have worked fully. Now sound is clear and crispy, no signs of lazyness. Let's wait.

Sorry I wasn't any help here. But it sounds like you've done pretty well sorting it on your own.
Congrats. Let us know if that worked once you get a chance to test it. They're great cams - good to know if the mechanism is as easy to work through as it sounds.

Thanks r.designer! I remember your empathy for 5000 expressed before. Probably I could live without slow speeds though I like this model that I just want it working in full range. Kind of camera noob
Sure will get back with feedback.

Lately found this thread on another occasion - and can confirm that slow speeds work well until now. Some housecleaning helps things run

Copals are all pretty similar, so this might help: http://pheugo.com/cameras/index.php?page=copalmxv
