I've been chasing a grip to use with the P for some time. I've gotten tired of being out-bid and seeing the prices go beyond what I think is reasonable. So - I built one!

The base is made from a piece of 50 x 50 x 3mm aluminium angle, and a piece of 50 x 6 aluminium bar.

The 50 x 50 x 3 angle was trimmed to size (about 34 x 7) with a hacksaw, and cleaned up with files and a belt sander. I wanted the base to sit flat, without the fixing screw protruding. I don't have a milling machine, so I drilled a clearance hole in the 6mm bar, than glued it to the piece of angle with epoxy glue.

The vertical grip is 10mm od aluminium tube fixed with an allen-head bolt to a hole tapped into the base, then covered with heat-shrink tubing.

Total cost (excluding my time - this is entertainment!) was about $10.

I'm think about drilling a series of holes in the base, to reduce the weight and give it that 'spacey' look. What do you reckon?
