i was lucky to find a brand new, no box 90 at my local pro shop.

they had it substantially discounted and it was too hard to resist.

i doubt it.
i feel the need for a good 90 even if infrequently used and this hex is a solid lens.
the 28/1.9 is the only possibility for a sale and gene w has been promised first refusal. i'm liking the idea of 2 bodies and 4 lenses more and more.

joe

ok,

ok,

thanks Joe, I think it's probably good to hang on to that Hexanon glass.

Since I was asked, here are some samples from the M-Hexanon 35/2 in colour (Kodak Gold 800).

@f2

@f4 (or maybe f5.6)

@f8

...Mike

P.S. A roll of BW400CN is in the camera, half finished.

Too late...Konica was purchased by Minolta who did not pick up the Hexar line. K-M has since gone out of the photo-camera business

Bob

Actually it was the other way around, Bob. Konica bought out Minolta. So, one would think that Konica would still be standing behind this product line. However, I know that Gre Weber has been very frustrated with his inability to get parts from Konica for repairs despite promises from Konica.

If anyone has fallen in love with Hexar RF equipment, they are available new here:

www.photostop.net

However, be prepared to pay through the nose. Here are their prices:

Hexar RF kit - $1999 (includes KM 50/2 & flash)
Hexar RF body - $999
Hexanon-KM 35 - $999
Hexanon-KM 90 - $999
Hexanon-KM 28 - $899
M-Hexanon 21/35 - $1999 (dual range f/3.4-4.0)

Actually when you consider what you're getting the prices aren't as bad as they seem. The price for the kit is the original list price. The price for the body is still cheaper than the ZI. The lens prices are inflated . . . but there has been inflation since these hit the market in 1999 & comparable lenses such as the ZM lenses sell at comparable prices. They are of course still far less expensive than Leica lenses.

This is a photo shop in New Jersey - not some shady warehouse in Brooklyn. You can walk in off the street, talk to sales staff & examine the equipment.

I've got to think it's the scans if XP2 is getting blown out... I've found the C41 BW films to be ultra forgiving, to the point of having a hard time getting contrast high enough in traditional printing.

I agree with much of what's been said here. I've owned all the Hexanon lenses except the 21/35, and they're all excellent performers and exceptional values. The build quality is much more substantial than the VC line. I sold Francisco his 35 Hexanon just to help fund the purchase of an Asph. Summilux 35, but if f2.0 is fast enough for you it might be the best 35 out there. Much better wide open than the over-hyped 4th gen Summicron 35. But I believe they've become a bit of a collectors item due to their rarity, and that's driven their prices up.

Handling wise, it's a bit 'stout.' Takes 46mm filters, but isn't as long as the 35 Asph. Lux.

E.P. Levine in Boston seems to have a bunch of M-Hexanon 50/f2 lenses for sale. US$395. Might be better to call: after the first page the site is VERY slow(I'm on a DSL connection) for me at least. Didn't have the patience to search for other Konica M stuff...
