My paycheque goes to RFF
Okay, the auction ended at $541.00. That is just nuts.

Just a few months ago someone bought my 28/2.8 Hexanon for $650. I guess if something is scarce enough and people want it, they will spend the money.

Man! That's almost 50% more expensive than in the USA! Is that including VAT or taxes or something?!pukupi said:The cheapest price I could find new:
ULTRON 35/1.7 (Silver) = 57,750 Yen
ULTRON 35/1.7 (Black) = 60,690 Yen

Its interesting to see how opinions change (which is why you should trust your own evaluations of cameras/lenses)
Based on Peter's observation, can everyone start talking bad about the 28 Summicron for me?
Actually, the $541 is a nutty price, but the buyer sets the market on ebay. Not long ago there were a flood of 50/2 Hex's offered on PN in the $350 range. That seems like a good deal, but closer to the real value than $541.

There was an M-Hexanon 50/2 sold (I think it was on photo.net) a while back and it was under $300. I'm sure demand/supply comes into it too, the lens is newish, great and it is no longer being made.

haha, the seller will be dancing on the table as he probably paid half for it then.
Karl, check the HK prices, they should be considerably less.
If you know someone who can pick it up for you they are even more interesting.
cheers,
phil

peter_n said:Also the lens shown on the page isn't a 21/2.8. It may be an Avenon lens but it isn't the 21.
If you look down the page here they are selling an Avenon 21mm F2.8+Avenon Finder. I suspect the photo has been messed up.
Scarcity (since the company that produces them is out of business) and some glowing review of their optics are driving the price here. I am yet to go down to Osaka's camera district so prices may be very different in the shops.
There is one in auction in Japan here .

That's with tax (5%). Most things in Japan are either much cheaper or much more expensive than elsewhere

Especially when you can buy it new for less! I hope it was no one on this forum.
