Just a few months ago someone bought my 28/2.8 Hexanon for $650. I guess if something is scarce enough and people want it, they will spend the money.

. When I bought my M6TTL in 2003, the current 50mm Elmar-M was considered a poor lens in comparison to the current Summicron. I bought mine used (it was two-months old) for $350. Now the same thing is going for $550. The reason? Since then lots of comments have popped up all over the place on forums like this one about how marvy the lens is.
Based on Peter's observation, can everyone start talking bad about the 28 Summicron for me?
Actually, the $541 is a nutty price, but the buyer sets the market on ebay. Not long ago there were a flood of 50/2 Hex's offered on PN in the $350 range. That seems like a good deal, but closer to the real value than $541.

haha, the seller will be dancing on the table as he probably paid half for it then.
Karl, check the HK prices, they should be considerably less.
If you know someone who can pick it up for you they are even more interesting.

Scarcity (since the company that produces them is out of business) and some glowing review of their optics are driving the price here. I am yet to go down to Osaka's camera district so prices may be very different in the shops.
There is one in auction in Japan here .
