M-Hexanon 90 CAs?

Today i took my M-Hexanon 90 on a little stroll. Back home i looked through my shots and was a little bit shocked from the CAs i saw! Is this a general flaw or only with my lens? Anyone has equal experiences? I attached some 100% crops

On the other side its really sharp and renders so beautiful.

Filters? sensor bloom? How does it render on film with no filters?

I´ve not used mine much. But now that you mention it. Here´s a 100% crop from a set earlier today. Bluish tinge around the tit, the tail especially. Epson R-D1 Digital capture, no filters. ISO 200, f2.8

EDIT: But I agree, it renders very nicely indeed. Will not be sweating too much if it indeed is slightly susceptible to CA in high contrast situations.

Have extensively pixel-peeped scanned film shot with the Hex 90, and have never noticed CA.

i guess the CAs are really no problem when shooting with a flim camera. With my M8 it is a small problem. And yes i had a UV-Flter on the lens. Today i made a test without the filter and the blue CA was almost not visible. Thanks for your advice!

This is correct: CA's are less a problem on film as compared to digital.

Basically: every lens that is not corrected apochromatic (and few are) has CA's. The longer the lens, the more critical the sensor and it shows up more severe. Lens manufacturers know this and correct their lenses as much as possible but true APO correction is horribly expensive (see the Leica 90/2.0 APO). Even my Zeiss PLanar 100/2.0 ZF has longitudinal CA wide open in some circumstances and this IS an expensive lens!

That said:
The Hexanon 90 is not specially APO corrected and made for film. It will indeed show CA on digital and you need to work this through in Photoshop to get rid of it. If this is really something you cannot live with then you can always save up for that APO CRON.....😀
