M-Hexanons on M8

If anyone uses these on M8s, I would be interested on focussing comments.

I have all the standard ones (28, 50, 90) and all seem to focus accurately wide-open at close distances, which was a bit surprising. I note on Reid Reviews, his sample 28mm Hexanon did not focus quite accurately. I haven't investigated focus shift stopped down, but I imagine there will be a bit.

Pleasantly suprised, and am waiting for IR filters and a coder to arrive to see how well they can be coded.

I had to have my 50mm 1.2 adjusted for the M8, but now it is great, with no noticeable focus shift.

I unfortunately had to sell my M-Hexanons because they didn't focus properly on the M8 and I couldn't find a local service to adjust them.

I have hexanon 28mm f2.8 and it focus perfectly on M8 at any distance. I heard some has focus shift problem with some hexanon. If possible you should test the lens before buy it.

I recently acquired a 90mm Hexanon for the M8. It does back-focus a little bit, even wide open (3 cm). I will have it adjusted at some point though it does not bother me much for the moment.

I'm shooting with a 60mm f1.2 Hexanon. It backfocuses slightly (0.1mm twist of the focusing ring) but does this consistently so I can adjust my focusing technique to compensate.

Sometimes, with fast lenses, you have to be careful about the Cosine Rule making you think that there is a defect in the lens when in fact it's a technique issue - if you focus at a subject matter then reframe the shot such that the subject moves to the corners of the frame, you have to adjust for that or the shot will be mis-focused. For example, when shooting a flat wall, the distance from your lens to the wall directly ahead is shorter than to the wall seen at the corner of the camera frame lines.

Nothing to do with the lens but using the correct technique when shooting with very fast lenses. The DOF for my 60mm shooting wide open at 1m is less than 8mm.

On the issue of the VC LTM to M adapter, also note that Version 1 adapter cannot be 6-bit encoded with Tim Issac's coder kit as the flange is cut in the critical places. You need the Version 2 adapter.

Also I wonder after the addition of a UV/IR cut filter on my Hex60, my shots seem to be a little sharper or snappier. I wonder if the filter contributed to this? IR focuses at a different plane compared to visible light so I wonder if this is the cause?

I had an M8 for a weekend and used it with the following Hexanon lenses: 21/35 Dual, 28, 35, and 50.
With all of these lenses i am able to turn the focusring slightly past infinity when they are mounted on my 2 Hexar RFs.
On the M8 the wideangles all stopped exactly at infinity. With the 50 i was not able to turn the focusring at the infinty-mark, it stopped between the 25ft and the infinty mark.
I didn´t try my 90mm.
