M mount 35's I want your imput

Thanks a lot everyone for all of the advice,

I looked at a ton of photos taken with both the CV 35/1.4 and version 2,3 and 4 summicron, and I really like the look of the cron. for B&W more so than the CV lens. I especially like the 4th version cron and now understand its following, but its the one I wont be able to afford until Im at least out of college... so basically not for a while.

Nokton 35mm f1.4. Aldous, named after Huxley. Probably shot at either f1.4 or f2.

I think the Zeiss ZM 35/2 and the CV 35/1.4 are the best, bang for your buck lenses with great performance. The ZM is a bit smoother in the bokeh dept and probably does better with flaring, the CV wins out on f/1.4 and size. The ZM is not too big either. Yes it's bigger, but a totally manageable size.

Tom, I like the name of your dog, Brave New Word is one of my favorite books Im still on the fence about the lens, though it think is going to come down to how much money I make the next few weeks but Im still slightly biased towards the cron i just like the look this lens produces for B&W a little more.

Its not my dog. Across the street from us is a cafe with very dog friendly owners. The crew at Viva will ply any dog with dog biscuits and the dogs know that. They slam on the brakes when the owner tries to drag them past and force them to go and get a coffee. Then the dogs are tied up outside and try to mooch as many biscuits as possible from other customers. I know the dogs by name, but none of the owners!!! On a good day there can be 7-10 dogs tied up - all different sizes, from Great Danes to toy poodles.
I really like Aldous smile too. In his brave new World there would be unlimited balls being thrown and cookies to the eaten.

So yesterday to my surprise I got a check for a couple hundred $$$ in the mail a great thing to just get when you need to buy a new lens. So I left my house later that afternoon to go to the local flower shop and order flowers for my girlfriend, when I got back to my car and tried to leave it would not start or even turn over. I ended up having to get towed and the car still wont start...

Somethings are just too good to be true...

I vote for the Canon 35/2. It's definitely petite in size. They seem to go between $250 - $350 on the 'bay . It'll be the most economical choice. I also owned the CV 35/2.5, but that 1/2 stop is important to me as with a f/2 I can shoot indoors with 400 speed film without a flash.

Don't be put off that some people didn't like the question. I always try to search questions before I ask, but sometimes your issue differs slightly. the CV 35/1.4 is a rather new lens and may not have been included in a thread from 2005. Or perhaps i compares the CV 35/1.4 and the CV 35/1.2, but want to know how it compares to the Canon 35/2.

Sorry to hear that. A dead car on Valentine's day sucks. For sure, more than the wrong lens.

Roland.

So I heard heard back from my mechanic today and I my car wont start even though nothing seems to be wrong:bang:, i was basically told his guess was as good as mine. So I called the nearest dealership over a hundred miles away for advice, but I guess they dont give out free information and basically insisted i give forth my first born in exchange for their services.

This new lens is slipping further and further away from meee. 😡

FWIW, I've got both the Biogon and CV 35 1.4 SC. I love the Biogon, but I've barely used it since getting the CV nearly a year ago, despite the Biogon's unarguably superior performance by nearly every metric. That tiny little CV has a ton of character, and that extra stop is a lot of fun.
