M-Rokkor 40/2 and R-D1 incompatible ?

Ok i've got into this really weird situation with the combo mentioned above. I could not focus correctly at any aperture, the lens just seems to front focus for miles off track. Thing is, there's nothing wrong with either of them, the lens has just been serviced and collimated, and accurate on my M3 and R2A. The R-D1 accurately focus any other lens I have correctly, so what the hell is going on ?

When I put my rokkor onto my r-d1 it focuses just fine.

no problems here on 3 different RD1s (2 RD1 originals, 1 RD1s) with 3 different versions of CL / CLE 40/2s. Haven't tried the Summicron-C but I think it works like one of the Rokkor variants with different filter size.

Huhm I would test the lens again then. To think that CRR would assemble it incorrectly is quite weird

Different beasts here as the Summicron-C has a sloping cam where the CLE Rokkor has a flat one. Then the latter should work better in theory. But in fact all my 'crons 40 work fine with R-D1 and R-D1s, contrary to my CLE Rokkor which front focuses at short distance i don't know why.

OK Im officially cant understand what is wrong now, film test on my M3 shows the lens focus accurately, and very sharp as well. And yet it still go haywire on the R-D1 ??

Is the focussing cam the same sort of thing in the 40mm as in your other lenses? You're right, it is odd that it focusses fine on the M3 and not the R-D1...

As far as I can tell, no, it got a flat cam, just like my J-8 or Summarit, and the two focus fine.

Are the inside diameter and outside diameters of the cam equal to that of the other lenses? Is it possible that your RD1's roller is high or low, and just barely engaging the lenses that work, and missing contact with your Rokkor somehow?

Maybe a careful test with a marker?

Is your flange good? Was your flange ever modified for 35 framelines?

Sounds like you might want to send your RD1 and that lens off to be checked out.

I had a Summicron-C which focused perfectly on an RD1S, and a Nokton 40mm which was completely unuseable on the same RD1S. Both lenses worked fine on a film body.

Subsequently, I sold my RD1S, and accompanied the buyer to a camera shop, where he picked up a Nokton 40mm, which focused perfectly on the RD1S!

I know this isn't directly comparable, but to me it means that some lenses just disagree with the camera (or vice versa).

I guess so, I'd have to wait until May to send both to be calibrated as some assignment are coming up
