Ok ok, I know my posts so far are a bit.. well... not very usefull I guess 🙂 Im finishing digitizing my pictures and in the meanwhile I just have this silly questions.

Im on the verge of buying a new M. But I have a black M7 with black lens and the good models I see are silver M6.

Does anyoe have a M6 or M7 silver and can throw some black lens on it and take a picture ? Im just lazy to go to the shop and see it for myself. 🙂 (hey, at least I admit it !)

Nothing fancy, even some mobile picture (well...) will do. If anyone has the contrary, ( black body, silver lens ) I would like to see as well !

Cheers,

Goncalo

No no no, my posts generally are not very useful. This is not the best shot, but black lens on a chrome M6TTL.

This is not an M, but even a Barnack looks ok with a black lens. Mine is a IIIf RD with a Jupiter 12 and a CV finder.

Not really the best picture, but its an M2 with a Canon 35/2. Silver bodies with black lenses look fine. Black bodies with silver lenses aren't so cool...

Right. The rangefinder won't focus. The shutter won't release. The film advance lever won't move.

Terrible. Horrible. No good. Very bad. Never ever mix chrome lenses with black bodies.

I have it on good authority that titanium lenses work quite well on black bodies.

I don't agree:

But beauty is in the eye of the beholder 🙂

Black or chrome bodies with striped lenses, however 😱 🙂

Well, obviously my statement was an opinion. Next time I'll make sure to include a disclaimer with my post so that everyone knows I'm not trying to pass off my opinion as fact.

Artorius, i see you have the new version of the photoequip grip, what do you think of it?
did you have the older version for a comparison?

joe

A friend of mine had the older version, and I liked it. I REALLY like this version better. The only fault IMHO is the covering on the grip seemed a bit soft and slick. I called cameraleather.com and ordered a strip of the Levant Black. Problem solved.
If it only had Arca-swiss grooves cut into it, now, that would be perfection.

No worries, mate. Just tugging on your leg.

Wayne, please excuse my snottiness earlier. I was beat from a lack of sleep and too much to drink last night and I was angry that I had to be awake during a really boring lecture. I tend to take stuff to seriously when I'm cranky.

I want to know, Peter: what clever hood is that ?

Thanks,

Roland.
Roland that's the hood from my current model 50/2.8 Tele-Elmar. Last year I bought a 135/4 Tele-Elmar which came with a hood which it shares with the "thin" Tele-Elmarit, so now I use that hood. No more flare... 🙂

Looks great, Peter. I _need_ a chrome one (for my Elmarit) .... But then, see my sig 🙁

Roland.

PS: totally OT: I finally got a Quantum light meter for Xmas. I love it !

Roland is that self-imposed? 🙁 I actually just bought a silver one on eBay for my rigid Summicron. It looks like it was made for that lens I am not kidding.

The Calculight is something isn't it? I love mine too. And the batteries last for ever. 😀
