M10 - film camera wishlist

Well, it's slightly off topic, but how about an X2 - with improved auto and manual focus, and a pop-up viewfinder instead of the flash?

For a film M, it went all down hill after the M3 ;)

Digital M's might be even more 'different' with a b+w only, super long scale sensor . . .

pricetag - $995

If you hadn't already said it, I was about to add, "No-one has mentioned the under $1000 price tag yet."

But on other topics, does anyone think it REALLY likely that they're going redesign M-series film cameras completely, dropping the old cloth shutter and putting in a metal one speeded to 1/8000, and putting in a variable-magnification finder?

That's the trouble with fantasy cameras: there's no limit to the fantasy, especially if you disregard real-world engineering or price constraints. It's a bit like pornography. Everyone knows about the blonde nymphomaniac who's just inherited a liquor store, but there are those who would then ask, "Why hasn't she got a twin sister?"

Cheers,

R.

1. Autofocusing (the Nikon F6 does this!)
2. Self-timer (the M9 does this!)
3. TTL/AE/flash TTL with higher sync speeds say 1/250s or better (the Nikon D7000 does this!)
4. Single viewfinder lines (the Nikon F6 does not do this!)
5. VF mag choice of 0.58, 0.72, 0.85 and 1.00 all on the same camera (the Nikon F6 does not do this!)
6. A mechanical M with all the above features (the Nikon F6 does not do this!)
