When the M8 can no longer be repaired it will join hundreds of digital cameras produced over recent years that will be paperweights.



I think you mean a very good looking paperweight.

In all seriousness though, we're talking about a $4800 camera in yesterday's dollars that can be had for $800 of today's dollars.
 
When film options/prices become fewer and when film developing becomes rare/costly, then a majority of M film users will consider using a digital M camera. Then, the M8 (if still in working order) may return to be more desired than an M film camera.

Does this mean film prices and developing is not rare right now?
 
These are currently my M cameras that I use. The M8 plays an important role in what I do in photography. It is not outdated. Brian tells me that with M8RAW2DNG,the M8 has a higher dynamic range than what the M9 has.
