Opened the package, wound and fired: shutter jammed.

Spoke to the seller immediately, and he told me to ship it back by whatever method I like, and he'll straighten it out at once. I'm not concerned, just disappointed.
 
Cold does miserable things to cameras. My Vt was operating fine at the camera show, lens cleaned out great, used it in the snow, and "clunnn" no "K". After warming, the slow speeds are inop. It will be going up to Essex. On the bright side, the CLA'd M2 from Essex performed flawlessly at near 0F for the shots at Manassas Battlefield.

I'm firing it back this afternoon by the fastest possible method, and I'm sure all will be well soon. Perhaps it'll be back just when my Canon 35/1.8 arrives for it.
 
Sorry to hear about the M2, merciful... What's the seller going to do? Will the camera be sent to a repair shop? Can you send it yourself and ask the repair person to bill the seller?

Cool! I think I'm fixing to head into the dark room myself. I haven't had a chance to get in there all week.
 
Thanks, guys. I'm just going to send it back to the seller (it's Village Camera in South Orange, NJ) and leave him to sort it.
 
Sorry to hear that Merciful but hope everything will end ok. And btw fun that you got a Canon 35/1.8, I was going to recommend you one based on what I read about it and your 'eclectic' taste ;)

The 35/1.8 I got was cheap (US$91) because of a lot of good ol'
"cleaning marks", which the seller thinks will affect contrast. From what I see from my Nikkor 85/2, you can do just about anything to the front of a lens and get by just fine.
 
91 bucks!?

that's why the m2 didn't work. balance must be maintained in the universe or things just go kaflummy!

let us know how that 35 works out, i'm real curious.

$91 for a Canon 35mm F1.8! Post some shots. I am going to have to do an EBay search on "Cleaning Marks" from now on. I have some lenses with NASTY cleaning marks that just do not seem to metter. The shots with the Canon 50mm F1.2 came out quite well, the Canada Balsam between two cemeneted elements looks like it has light oil stains in it. You can tell by shining a light into the back of the lens and looking. I will not use it to photograph flashlights being shined through the back of lenses.
