My M5s need red dots!
Ooops! Before I forget (again).
Congratulations, Ash!
And don't worry much about the flash contact covers. In truth, they protect the contacts from dust, but then, your Leica will survive a bit of nakedness in them. My only concern was that when I lost one of mine I was afraid of scratching my glasses. Don't ask me how...
Congratulations, Ash!

Congratulations.
Enjoy using it and post some photos!
Shoot it meterless like a man.
Once you got the hang of it, you may well qualify for the greatest Leica of all times....
the M3!
It is the unique example of a company getting a product right the first time and then to continually downgrade (with the exception of the MP - that is the true reason why it does not have a number
Enjoy,

WOW!
Talk about a lot of responses! Looks like every person, even the lurkers, have commented in my absence!
I've got about 15 shots through the roll.
Guess what I'm shooting the rest indoors with? hah!

Easy, Tri-X, rated 1250, to be processed in Diafine.
For natural tones, great dynamic range without having to purchase a Nocti.
I knew I would get that one right.

Congrats ash, I know it is not the camera that makes good pictures (its the photographer eheh) but coincidence or not, I make much more "keepers" with a camera I really apreciate.
Since I got my M2 last week I have only shoot one roll and a half, but... I must admit I have a bunch of pictures that really please me
Besides that, I must look really silly, because I smile a lot when shooting with the M2... a smile of happyness for the smooth feeling of using it
And this happens with my "Frankenstein" kit: M2 + J3 or J12.
An example of my my first pictures with M2:

Sergio that's a really cool photo. I agree with you though, I was smiling at every movement of the camera's mechanism

I take it you just got the order wrong, or is Diana really a Jack Russell and you were making derogatory comments about a friend's girlfriend
BTW I really like the first shot
SDK
Exposing since 1969.
Ash, one thing to listen for at slow speeds (below flash sync) is the escapement timer. It should make a slightly gritty little whine for a second or so after the shutter fires. If your 1, 2, 4, 8, and 15 speeds all sound the same whith no whine, the camera may need cleaning of the slow speed governor. I recently went trhough this with an used M4-P which needed relubing. Now it works like a clock at all speeds.
Good luck and happy shooting!

Nothing wrong with the flash shot, either. How do you get flash sync at 1/60th with an M shutter, Ash?
Oh, and DMG, there can't be that many skate shops in Swindon
