M2/M3 lug integrity?

Hello all! Are the lugs on these old models known to fail from wear? I happened to look at mine today and the loop ends look thin and it made it wonder if them tearing from decades of wear was a thing?

Yes, they certainly can wear through. Using a keyring type strap ring hastens the wear of the brass. They can easily be replaced with steel lugs when the camera is off for repair.
