M2 rangefinder patch double image dim

I have two M2s. My second M2 is a little harder to focus in low light because one of the double images in the rangefinder patch is dim.
The image that moves is bright, it's the static image that is dim.
The patch itself is bright and contrasty.

What could be causing this? Can this be fixed?

Perhaps having it cleaned would help?

Youxin cleaned my M3 VF and it is noticably better. May be worth a try.

According to the previous owner this camera had been CLA'd a year ago. But who knows what was done during that CLA.

I wanted to know if this was an indication of more serious trouble with the rangefinder that can't be fixed with a simple CLA.

I'd say that Benjamin and gdi are on the right track. The M2 is not a "Barnack" whose half-silvered R/F mirror needs to be replaced.
