Hey all,

Last night, my M2 developed a distinct squeak when shooting at 1/15th. It makes the squeak after the release has been depressed, and only at 1/15h - slower and faster speeds all sound perfect.

I've searched the forums and the web, and only found scattered answers.

...Lube needed?
...Gears slipping?
...Any ideas?

Thanks!

Cole, on the M's there is a intermediate gear that cuts in a 1/15 for the slow speeds. If you haven't been using it fo a time, it could be a bit 'dry" and that can create this squeek. Not uncommon in cameras that see little use. If it starts "spreading' to the other speeds, you might consider a CLA, just to get everything smooth. I have had multiple M2's and M3's with this squeek and it has either gone away, or I kept using the camera(s) until I felt it was due for a CLA anyway. Just check that exposures are even and that the curtains travel smoothly across (no "banding" on the image).

Thanks once again for the advice, Tom.
It seemed odd to me because I've only been using the camera on slow speeds of late - too much night shooting!
I'll keep a close eye on it and hope it goes away.
Cheers!
